GUESTS

Romulo Gerardo "Gerry"  S.A. Ramos, AIA

Outstanding Alumnus Award in Architecture and Community Service

A distinguished architect and dedicated community leader in Wisconsin, Gerry Ramos has led major projects throughout his career and now serves as Principal of his own firm, Ramos and Associates.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gerry is best known for his tireless commitment to community service and to preserving Filipino culture and heritage. Since 1995, he has served as the volunteer Executive Director of the Philippine Cultural and Civic Center Foundation in Milwaukee. Under his leadership, the center has offered free health services, youth programs, and essential supplies to underserved communities for over two decades.

His passion for education is also evident in his active role in the Children’s Literacy Program, where he uses cultural presentations, educational workshops, and music to help young Filipino Americans connect with their roots and identity.  He has many more advocacies, too numerous to mention in this introduction.

University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Wisconsin, Ltd. (UPAA-W)

Outstanding UP Alumni Group Award

Since its founding in 1974, UPAA-W has demonstrated unwavering commitment to cultural preservation, academic excellence, and community service—both in Wisconsin and in the Philippines.

The organization has established multiple scholarship awards and two professorial chairs at UP Diliman, launched the Value Our Heritage program to promote Filipino culture and history, and led impactful community efforts such as the Feed the Hungry initiative and participation in medical missions.

UPAA-W also introduced Filipino cuisine at the Wisconsin Holiday Folk Fair and organized the first Santacruzan celebration in the state. Its physician members regularly volunteer at the Philippine Center Free Medical Clinic in Milwaukee, serving uninsured patients.

For its consistent leadership, humanitarian work, and dedication to the Filipino community, UPAA-W received the UPAAA Outstanding Alumni Group Award in 2017—and continues to exemplify the spirit of excellence and service worthy of the 2025 award.
