This Zoom event is part 1 of a series of virtual conversations, introducing the 2023 UPAAA Distinguished UP Alumni and UP Alumni group who will be honored during the Gala, Saturday, October 21, 2023 of the 22nd Biennial Grand Reunion and Convention (GRC), to be held on October 19 to 22, at the Hyatt Regency, New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Joel Gamo, MD, BS Zoology, cum laude, 1981.  MD 1984,  is  a Professor of Anatomy and Pathophysiology at the West Coast University, North Hollywood, CA, and Adjunct Assistant Professor of  Integrative  Anatomy, UCLA  David  Geffen School of  Medicine, Los  Angeles, CA. He has a YouTube site (joelgamomd) with 80 videos that provide teach-back reviews on anatomy and pathophysiology, and is author of "Heart Structure Function and Diseases, Made Easy", through Amazon Kindle publishing. He is active in mental health advocacy after his son Miguel’s suicide in 2019. (YouTube https://youtu.be/lm9wioXQVuk).  

Erwin Benedict Valencia, DPT, BSPT 1999, has a long list of degrees from educational institutions other than UP.  He has a long list of Keynotes & Lectures Given/Products Developed/ Interviews/Additional Research assisted/Publications.  He has reached the pinnacle of Sports Medicine as Team Physical Therapist and Wellness Lead for the New York Knicks. His journey from the time he graduated from UP to where he is now - a Renaissance man - is truly an inspiring one (Watch on YouTube https://youtu.be/RC9tQWAhPfc).
