UP Alumnay sa Amerika

UP alumnay kaming lahat

Katulad nami'y yamang likas

Sa pamantasang Pilipinas

Kami'y hinubog maging pantas

Iniaalay naming wagas

Ay karunungang isang hiyas.

UP alumnay kaming lahat

Ibang dagat man kami napadpad

Ang lagi naming hinahangad

Ang pamantasan ay lumakas

Ang handog namin sa lahat

Ay ang talinong sa 'yo nagbuhat.

UP alumnay sa Amerika

Magsama-sama't magkaisa

Sa bawa't isip at gawa

Luntiang tunay at pula

Hindi kukupas ang sigla

Hanggang mapawi ang hininga.

About the UPAAA Hymn

Inspired by events surrounding the centennial celebration of the University of the Philippines, Romualdo Aragon, Jr., MD of U.P. College of Medicine (UPCM) Class 1982 wrote the final lyrics of the UPAAA song in Las Vegas in June 2008. He started thinking about the UPAAA lyrics in the September 2007 when Dr. Francisco S. Sy, U.P. College of Medicine Class 1975, was elected President of the U.P. Alumni Association in America (UPAAA) in San Francisco. With the knowledge that Dr. Aragon wrote the lyrics for the U.P. Medical Alumni Society in America (UPMASA) song and the U.P. College of Medicine hymn. Dr. Sy requested Dr. Aragon to write the lyrics of the UPAAA song to unite all U.P. alumni living in the United States.

The UPAA Nevada Chapter performed the premiere presentation of the "Awit ng UPAAA" at the UPAAA Grand Assembly and Convention on September 4-6, 2009 at JW Marriott in Washington, DC.

Dr. Aragon wrote the lyrics of the “Awit ng UPMASA” song in September 2006 to celebrate the birth of the UPMASA Nevada Chapter. When he was a medical student, Dr. Aragon wrote the lyrics of UP College of Medicine hymn “Awit ng Kolehiyo” lyrics in 1980. Dr. Aragon is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Ambulatory Medicine. He is one of the past presidents UPMASA-Nevada chapter.

Minda Azarcon

Her musical talent was off the scale.

"They say that to know a great artist and witness their art, is to transform, to change our behavior, and perhaps even change our very selves. The late artist Minda D. Azarcon embodied the magic, life force, beauty, and sensuality of Music. She wonderfully changed my life in no small measure."
